SCRIPTURE:

Psalm 84:10 NLT

A single day in your courts is better than a thousand anywhere else!  I would rather be a gatekeeper in the house of my God than live the good life in the homes of the wicked.

OBSERVATION:

“A single day in your courts is better than a thousand anywhere else!”  What a statement.  Do you have a dream trip?  You know what I’m talking about?  That place you’d love to visit or maybe even move to.  My dream trip is Greece – maybe a Mediterranean cruise.  I would love to see the Acropolis and the Parthenon.  Anyway, think about it.  Envision it.  Does your dream trip involve palm trees and white sand beaches?  Maybe yours has majestic mountains.  Think about that place.  Maybe it’s a place you’ve already been to and you’re itching to go back.

ONE day in the presence of God is better than a thousand days there.

APPLICATION:

Let me take you a little deeper by looking at the Hebrew word used for “day” so we can get a true grip on what this verse is saying.

Day / Yowm (Hebrew): day, a number of days, some time, year, life, today, at present, now.

This is so important in applying this word to our lives.  When we read – “A single day in your courts is better than a thousand anywhere else!” – a more literal translation is this: ANY day in the presence of God is better than a thousand days anywhere else.

ANY day in the presence of God is better than a thousand days in your dream destination…no matter what the day holds.  You see we have good days and bad days, and ALL of them fall in the category of ANY day.

ANY day in God’s presence is better.  I don’t know about you, but I want today to be better than yesterday.  And I want tomorrow to better than today.

PRAYER:

God, thank you that You want to do life with me.  Everyday in your presence is the best day!  In Jesus’ name, Amen.
