Ephesians 2:1,4-5 (NLT)

Made Alive with Christ

Once you were dead because of your disobedience and your many sins… But God is so rich in mercy, and He loved us so much, that even though we were dead because of our sins, He gave us life when He raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved!)

O –

We were dead.  We weren’t just sick, or ill, or wayward.  We were dead.  Done.  Finished.  Because of this, we had no hope of “getting better”.  If scripture said, “Once you were sick because of you disobedience”, then we would have a chance to somehow get better, get well, pull ourselves out of it.  Nope.  God’s word is clear:  we were dead.

But look at the Good News!  Even though we were dead, He gave us life!  Something only He could do!  We were goners, but because He loves us so much, we have been saved!  I want to remember His love, His mercy, His grace is the only reason I am alive today!  That’s the perspective I want as I begin my day.

P –

Lord God, thank You for loving me.  Thank You for Your mercy and grace.  Thank you for giving me life!  Let that be what fuels me through the day.  In Jesus’ Name I pray, Amen.
