Jude 20-21 New Living Translation (NLT)
20 But you, dear friends, must build each other up in your most holy faith, pray in the power of the Holy Spirit,[a] 21 and await the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ, who will bring you eternal life. In this way, you will keep yourselves safe in God’s love.

God’s Word always commands us to build each other up, encourage one another, pray with each other, sing songs of praise together, fellowship together, carry one another’s burdens… love one another.

As the “Church”, we can sometimes get distracted by the scoffers, the accusers, society, the “world”, as they repeatedly launch “attacks” at us, the Church. We will even see people within the Church whose motives can cause division. Jude warns us of some of these things.

But here in v20-21 we see that we are to respond in love, building each other up, praying in the Spirit, and waiting with expectation for Christ’s return. If you read further, we’re also shown how we are to respond to those who’s faith is wavering, and those who need rescue, and even those who seem to be causing trouble within the church:

Jude 22-23 New Living Translation (NLT)
22 And you must show mercy to[a] those whose faith is wavering. 23 Rescue others by snatching them from the flames of judgment. Show mercy to still others,[b] but do so with great caution, hating the sins that contaminate their lives.[c]
When we stay unified, build each other up, pray together, and respond in love, we are then truly acting like the Church, the Body of Christ, whose mission is to see people come to know Christ, thus bringing glory to our Father.
