SOAP with Doug – Do Not Worry…

1 Peter 5:7 New Living Translation (NLT)
Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.

Scripture tells us not to worry, but to instead put our trust in God. So, I try not to worry. I pray and ask God to take care of whatever I’m worried about, and then I try to forget it and just get through the day.

Then I think about it again. And get worried again. I pray again, try to forget it again, try to just get by.

What’s the deal? Why is this such a struggle? Why do I have to pray about this over and over, all day long?

Wait a minute… I think I’m looking at this all wrong. I think that’s the point, that God actually wants me to pray over and over, all day long. The days that I stay in contact with Him all day, actually end up being the best days! Staying tapped-in to His grace, His power, His love… that’s where I want to be. And so if I have to pray about the same thing fifty times today, then so be it. Whatever it takes to keep me close to Him, the Source of all hope, healing, and joy.
