SOAP – What’s on the inside?

Psalm 19:14 New Living Translation (NLT)

14 May the words of my mouth
and the meditation of my heart
be pleasing to you,
O Lord, my rock and my redeemer.

This speaks to the condition of our hearts. Everywhere I study scripture lately, I’m reminded that God is more concerned about our heart condition than our outward behavior.

If our focus is on our outward appearances, our behavior, the things people can see, to the neglect of what’s going on in the deep recesses of our hearts, that’s phony baloney.  It’s not genuine.

The cool thing is, when we get what’s on the inside right, the outward stuff takes care of itself.

Luke 6:45 New Living Translation (NLT)

45 A good person produces good things from the treasury of a good heart, and an evil person produces evil things from the treasury of an evil heart. What you say flows from what is in your heart.
