SOAP – It’s mercy and grace that we find

Hebrews 10:19-22 New Living Translation (NLT)

19 And so, dear brothers and sisters,[a] we can boldly enter heaven’s Most Holy Place because of the blood of Jesus. 20 By his death,[b] Jesus opened a new and life-giving way through the curtain into the Most Holy Place. 21 And since we have a great High Priest who rules over God’s house, 22 let us go right into the presence of God with sincere hearts fully trusting him. For our guilty consciences have been sprinkled with Christ’s blood to make us clean, and our bodies have been washed with pure water.

When we trust in Jesus, confess our sin, accept His forgiveness, believe that He died for us and rose again, and confess with our mouths, we are then covered by His sacrifice, cleansed, made holy.

Before Jesus came to earth, only the high priest could enter the Most Holy Place, and offer sacrifice there for the sins of the people.  Then Jesus came, and was the ultimate sacrifice, the final payment.  The curtain was torn, and we now have full access to the presence of God.  Jesus is THE High Priest, and we bear His Name.  We can boldly enter heaven’s Most Holy Place.

So why do we hesitate?  Is it because of pride?  Our love for our favorite sin?  Shame?  Fear of condemnation?  For me, it’s usually a combination of these.  Whatever it is that keeps us from experiencing Him in an intimate way, let’s rid ourselves of it, stop believing the lies, and let’s encourage one another to come boldly before the throne of grace.  It’s there, and nowhere else, that we find the mercy and grace that we need.
