What a promise!

Hebrews 10:15-17 New Living Translation (NLT)

15 And the Holy Spirit also testifies that this is so. For he says,

16 “This is the new covenant I will make

with my people on that day, says the Lord:

I will put my laws in their hearts,

and I will write them on their minds.”

17 Then he says,

“I will never again remember

their sins and lawless deeds.”

Three things stand out to me in this scripture:

  1. God will put His laws, His Word, in our hearts, and write them on our minds. When we surrender to Him, give Him Lordship over our heart, soul, and mind, He then infuses His truth into us. Grafts His word into our being.
  2. He chooses to never again remember our sins.  He doesn’t keep bringing them up, “heyDoug, remember that time you…” When we hear those words, they’re not from Him… they’re from another source.  Satan is the accuser, and he loves to try to make us think we’re still in bondage. Once we accept Christ’s redemptive work on the cross, His blood washes us clean.  God refuses to remember our sins. They were dealt with, once and for all.
  3. Look at verses 15 and the first line of 16:  “This is the new covenant”. This is a promise.  This isn’t contingent on anything. God never breaks His covenant.  Never. We can build on that foundation. He’s a solid Rock!
