Are we panting?

Psalm 42:1-2 (NIV)

1 As the deer pants for streams of water,
so my soul pants for you, my God.
2 My soul thirsts for God, for the living God.
When can I go and meet with God?

This is one of my favorite pictures of how we are to relate to God.  He wants us to desire Him.  And what’s cool, it’s because he desires us!  He loves to meet with us, we need only to surrender.

There are so many things in life that compete with our “thirst” for God, our desire for Him.  Sometimes it’s just plain old-fashioned busyness.  We must be intentional about developing our thirst for Him.  It’s easy to try to satisfy that thirst with others things… things that don’t really satisfy.

So what do we do?  Let’s stop and take time to realize that our thirst is really for Him, and only He can satisfy!  Amen? Let’s get in a quiet place and ask Him to meet us there.  Let’s turn to the only source that can truly quench our thirst!  He’s waiting.
