SOAP – Consider Yourself Sent

Romans 10:14-15 New Living Translation (NLT)

14 But how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them? 15 And how will anyone go and tell them without being sent? That is why the Scriptures say, “How beautiful are the feet of messengers who bring good news!”[a]

Matthew 28:19-20 New International Version (NIV)

19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

If you’re a believer, it’s because, one time or another, you heard the Good News.  And you heard, because someone told you.  And they told you because they were sent.  And guess what… if you’re a believer, you, too, have been sent!

In the very familiar passage in Matthew 28, what is commonly referred to as “The Great Commission”, Jesus tells us what to do with this Good News that we’ve received and believed.  We’re commissioned, by Jesus Himself, to go and make disciples.

The really cool thing is, Jesus doesn’t send us out there empty handed or ill-prepared.  Nope, in fact, He promises to be with us always!  We don’t go it alone… He goes with us!

Now that’s some good news!
